This week, too, we would like to share some pictures of the week’s menu. On November the 29th, students enjoyed a menu consisting of spaghetti with napolitana sauce, omelette with a side of lettuce and olives, and fruit.
We do not know if you will agree with us, but there is no doubt that pasta is a children favourite!
Pasta is a dish with many benefits for our youngest, and it is included in the recommendations for a healthy diet by experts.
Among pasta’s benefits we can find that it is a great source of energy, as it has many carbohydrates. It is low in calories and has very little cholesterol. Additionally, pasta is a source of fibre and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous and selenium. Pasta also has vitamin B which helps the metabolise the carbohydrates and allows for a good regulation of the nervous system.
The only inconvenient pasta has is what we pair it with. Often time we like to have pasta with tomato sauce. A better way to approach these pairing would be, for example to choose natural tomato sauce.
The second dish might have surprised you! You may be thinking: the kids had plane omelette? The answer is no! This omelette in particular is made with potatoes, as usual, and other vegetables, such as peas and carrots.
Finally, seasonal fruit. At this time of the year there are two stars: apple and banana. To be more precise, apples can be eaten at any time of the day and you can enjoy any of the wide variety there is. Also, there are a myriad of ways: fresh, cooked, baked, etc. And they can be added to other dishes like salads or cakes!
Sometimes, however, it is not beneficial to eat apple. It is not a good idea to have one if you have gastrointestinal problems, as apple od the Granny variety is very acidic and may cause imbalances in the stomach mucus.
