This week, too, we would like to share some pictures of the week’s menu. On November the 22nd, students enjoyed a menu consisting of bean soup with pumpkin, breaded pike with a side of lettuce and sweet corn, and fruit.
As the cold is now here, we tend to want warmer dishes. Therefore, the first dish on November 22nd was nicely received by the student body: warm bean soup with pumpkin.
Beans are the seeds found within the bean pods. There is a great variety in both shapes and colours. Beans have approximately 50% carbohydrates and a 25% of fibre, which helps regulate bowel movement, improves intestinal flora growth and contributes to the feeling of being satiated.
Did you know? It is recommended to eat legumes 3 to4 times a week by the UN Nations Assembly.
Pumkin, aside from being a great decoration during Halloween, it is a very nutritious and rich in vitamins food. This food can help regulate the level of sugar in the blood, can protect the sight and the card, and may prevent cancer. So, as you can see, it is one complete food!
As a second dish, students were delighted with some breaded pike with a side of lettuce and sweet corn. Pike is a white fish. However, be it white or blue, pike has great health benefits: it may help in weight loss, may improve cognitive development, strengthens bones, improve the heart condition, improves defences and nurtures muscle mass. Best of all, pike is easy to digest.
Did you know? It is recommended to eat food from the sea (fish or seafood) at least 2 times a week by the Health Channel from Gencat.
Finally, we would like to tell you a little bit about sweet corn. This grain is high in nutritional value, as it contains vitamins, organic acids, micro and macro elements, and fibre. Additionally, it may also help prevent heart attacks, aids in the functions of the metabolism, protects the body of aging and bombast cancerous cells.
It is of great importance to nota that sweet corn is not good for those people with stomach related issues, obesity, or blood clotting problems.
