Once again, we would like to share some pictures of the food your children had this week during lunch service. Yesterday, February 15, we move to Argentina and the menu consisted of lentil stew, Creole chorizo with mixed salad and flan.
We have already talked about lentils several times in other posts.
Lentils stand out because they contain a lot of protein: 20% dry, which becomes 10% cooked, is high enough to be considered a protein food.
They are also rich in carbohydrates, but they are complex and slowly assimilated carbohydrates that, combined with the high percentage of fiber, generate a feeling of satiety.
There is no other type of food that provides us with such a high percentage of protein with so little fat.
Criollo chorizo is a sausage of Latin American origin that is characterized by its intense and spicy flavor. It is very popular in countries such as Argentina, Uruguay and Brazil, where it is part of the culinary tradition.
Creole chorizo is made from a mixture of minced pork and seasonings such as garlic, paprika, cumin, oregano and other ingredients according to the regional recipe.
It is important to keep in mind that Creole chorizo, like other sausages, has a moderate fat and calorie content. Its consumption is recommended in moderation as part of a balanced diet.
Flan is a traditional dairy dessert, typical of our gastronomy. It is usually prepared with whole eggs, milk and sugar. The most common flavor is simply vanilla, but there are many other variations including almond, pistachio, lemon, and other fruit varieties.
Argentine cuisine is one of the tastiest in the world, due to the incredible raw materials it uses, especially meat.
The rich Argentine gastronomic culture combines the flavors of European cuisines – especially Spanish and Italian – with those of Creole and indigenous cuisine, and is known for its high-quality beef.
Argentine gastronomy was rated by National Geographic magazine as one of the best in the world. Some of the dishes that stood out were the roast (which was chosen the best food on the continent by Taste Atlas), the empanadas, the choripans, the locre and the llama meat.
