News at lunch! – November 2023

10 de November de 2023

In keeping with the lunch service meeting we had a few weeks ago, from the school, we would like to share some news.

Every week, we will share a photo of the food that your children have enjoyed the most. This photo will be sent through email, together with content related to nutrition that you can use for meals outside of the school. This information will also be made available in the web page.

Once a month, your children will be able to indulge in a special menu. The Theme Menu has been created with all the cultures at school in mind. This November, for example, we have travelled to China. Last Tuesday, November 7th, students were delighted to try some of the amazing cuisine from this country.

Would you like your children to also enjoy this Theme Menu?

Only if your children are not already enrolled in the lunch service, you can contact us through email at infotorre@lleoxiii.com for Kindergarten and Primary, and at info@lleoxiii.com for Secondary and Bachelorette.

Nutritional information:

ABOUT PUMPKIN

Pumpkin belongs to the cucurbita family, which includes more than 850 different species. What is more, there is a wide range of pumpkin types: some are sweet and other are rather bland, and they may range from white to orange colour.

Pumkin deserves to have the spotlight in autumn and winter cuisine, for both the number of dishes that can be created and its elevated nutritional value. Moreover, pumpkins have a great number of positive aspects. On the one hand, it is a rehydrating food, it is made out of almost 90% water. On the other hand, in terms of nutrition, pumpkin has 20% protein, 70% carbohydrates and a 13% of fats (most of them polyunsaturated)

ABOUT RADISH

It is believed that radish originates from China. It was an ancient Rome and Grece favourite, seeing how it was them who expanded the cultivation of radish around Europe.

Radish is rich in antioxidant due to its high vitamin content and its sulphur components. Also, it is rather diuretic, because of its high water and potassium content. This is why radish are beneficial for those people who suffer from liquid retention. Moreover, radish is a key element for a pregnant woman’s diet as it has a high content of folic acid.

ABOUT CATALAN YELLOW CHICKEN

The Catalan Yellow Chicken is a Km0 meat. The care and growth of the chickens take place in Catalan farms. It is a premium meat that is only sold in specialised stores within the Catalonia region.
