Lunch Menu – Decembre 5th

5 de December de 2023

This week, too, we would like to share some pictures of the week’s menu. On Decembre the 5th, students enjoyed a menu consisting of letter soup, breaded pork with a side of lettuce and black olives, and seasonal fruit.

With how cold it is now; we crave hot meals to warm up. A start dish during the winter is soup. Among its qualities, we can highlight that soup is rich in water and minerals and has a great fibre content that helps regulate our digestive system. Also, soup contain carbohydrates, can have protein and is low in saturated fats.

From school, we have chosen letter soup, which helps the youngest ones eat without effort and is always more fun.

The second dish of the day was breaded pork with lettuce and olives. Breaded pork is made by stretching a pork fillet to make it thin and long. Oftentimes, it is breaded and fried. This time we have served it with a side of lettuce and black olives.

Lettuce is a sweet vegetable with a sour touch. It is very refreshing, and it is often used as the base for many salads. Lettuce has a lot of good properties that have been known for a millennium, such as the sedative power derived from the lactucina it contains. Lettuce is mainly water (95%) and thus, has very little calories, carbohydrates, and fats. It is high on fibre.

On the other hand, olives are fruits with a high fatty acid content (omega-9), vitamin A and E and phenolic compounds, which have great health benefits. Additionally, olive are great for the heart, neurodegenerative diseases and some types of cancer.
